GUIDE TO THE APOCALYPSE
Boise Weekly | July 2012
With the Mayan calendar end-of-the-world fears hitting fever pitch, Boise Weekly wanted to create a tongue in cheek guide to surviving the impending apocalypse. I was asked to illustrate each of the sections, which replaced the usual articles with survival pieces. I decided to mix elements from many types of doomsday scenarios, from robots and atomic bombs to aliens and zombies. I played these tropes against each other in a comical way, with the man and his son serving as the narrative link between all of the pieces as a play on Cormac McCarthy's "The Road." All in all, it was a very rewarding experience, and a hell of a lot of fun to work on.
